How Diablo IV wipes work
Diablo IV is Blizzard's action RPG set in the dark world of Sanctuary. Its live service runs in seasons: roughly every three months a new season adds a theme mechanic, balance changes and a fresh Seasonal Realm where everyone starts new characters.
Diablo IV doesn't delete your characters. Each season opens a new Seasonal Realm where you create a fresh character to play the seasonal content and climb the leaderboards. When the season ends, seasonal characters and their items move to the Eternal Realm. Seasons usually last around three months and start on a Tuesday, typically at 10:00 or 11:00 AM US Pacific.

How to prepare for the next wipe
- Finish the current season's journey and battle pass before the end date to keep the rewards.
- Check the patch notes and the PTR feedback to pick your season starter class.
- Season launches start at a fixed time worldwide — pre-download the patch the day before.
